Perched at an elevation of 3,133 metres above sea level in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, Badrinath Dham is one of the most sacred destinations in all of Hinduism. Flanked by the towering Nar and Narayan mountain ranges, with the snow-capped Nilkantha peak watching over it, this holy town sits on the banks of the Alaknanda River and draws hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every single year. It is the northernmost of the four sacred Char Dhams, and its spiritual gravity is without equal in the Himalayan belt.
