Dry, hot and arid landscapes like deserts and grasslands are rarely associated with any kind of life, let alone wild animals. In India, the Thar and Kutch deserts house a variety of ecosystems – from mangroves, saltpans and lagoons, to grasslands and dunes - but are often perceived as barren, lifeless places, where extreme temperatures make life difficult.
