Your main responsibility is to prepare "claims" that are submitted to insurance companies by entering coded medical records into the billing system. Responsibilities Claim Creation: Input patient encounter data, including as provider information, service dates, and facility characteristics, into the Practice Management (PM) software. Coding Verification: Check that the codes supplied by the medical coding team correspond with the clinical records and are billed with the appropriate quantity of units. Use the proper billing modifiers to prevent insurance payers from bundling or rejecting services. Fee Schedule Management: Verify that the charges entered correspond with the provisions of the insurance contract and the provider's particular fee schedule. Error Scrubbing: To find and correct CCI edits prior to the claim being sent, use "Claim Scrubbers" or internal software edits. Productivity & Quality: Adhere to a stringent quality standard of 98.5% correctness while maintaining a high daily number of entries.

Skills: Technical Knowledge: A fundamental comprehension of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and how they relate to billing. Software Mastery: Expertise in US-based medical billing software and quick usage of 10-key pads. The ability to correctly interpret a "Super-bill" or "Encounter Form" is an analytical skill. Compliance: Good knowledge of HIPAA rules pertaining to patient health and financial information.
