Job Description
Duties:
DataTranscription: Precisely input provider, insurance, and patient demographics from electronic health records or superbills into the billing software.
ServiceEntry: Enter medical codes, such as CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS, making sure they correspond to the services the doctor has provided.
Modifier Application: To add more details about the process and avoid billing mistakes, apply the proper modifiers to CPT codes.
charge Schedule Management: Based on the payer contracts and the particular provider's charge schedule, confirm and apply the appropriate monetary amounts for services.
Quality Auditing: Before submitting a claim, cross-check entered data with source documents to find and fix inconsistencies in units, date of service, or provider signatures.
Batch balancing: To make sure that the overall costs recorded correspond to the total services rendered during that time, create and balance daily batches.
Focus Skills:
Medical Coding Literacy: Basic to intermediate knowledge of the CPT and ICD-10 coding systems and how they relate to medical necessity.
Typing Accuracy & Speed: Excellent data entry abilities (minimum 45+ WPM), with an emphasis on numerical keypad competency.
RCM Knowledge: Knowledge of the Revenue Cycle's "Front-End" and how charge input affects invoicing downstream.
Software Proficiency: Practical knowledge of MS Excel and practice management systems.
An unwavering eye for spotting inconsistent or missing information in medical records.
