E&I Technician Integrating Automation's Digital Vision Job Description The installation, upkeep, and troubleshooting of complex instrumentation control systems as well as electrical systems fall within the purview of the dual-skilled E&I Technician. This position, which is mostly found in heavy sectors including manufacturing, oil and gas, chemicals, and power plants, makes sure that power distribution is steady and that the plant's "senses"—sensors, transmitters, and controllers—are correct. To guarantee plant safety and operational effectiveness, the ideal applicant is a technical specialist who can transition between heavy-duty electrical wiring and the careful calibration of precise instruments.

Responsibilities Installation and Commissioning: Install and wire instrumentation equipment (such as flow, temperature, and pressure transmitters) and electrical components (such as motors and switchgear). Troubleshooting and Repair: Identify problems with automated loops, control panels, and electrical circuits; fix or swap out malfunctioning parts including actuators, solenoids, and relays. Calibration and Testing: To guarantee that sensing components and transmitters give the control room reliable data, calibrate them on a regular basis. Control System Support: Help with field-to-control room communication, PLC and DCS I/O module maintenance, and troubleshooting. Schematic Interpretation: Examine and update electrical single-line diagrams (SLD), loop drawings, and P&IDs. Preventive maintenance: To avoid unplanned shutdowns, conduct planned checks of electrical distribution boards and instrumentation loops.

Skills: Dual Expertise: Solid background in both electronic control logic and electrical power systems. Technical Tools: Proficiency with pressure pumps, loop calibrators, multimeters, and HART communicators. Precision: Excellent attention to detail for sensitive instrument calibration and small-scale wiring. The capacity to follow a signal fault through several junction boxes and marshalling cabinets is an example of analytical thinking.
