Job Description
Duties:
Testing and Inspection: Compare final finished goods, in-process components, and incoming raw materials to CAD models and blueprints.
Measurement Mastery: Use precision tools such as profile projectors, height gauges, CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), micrometers, and Vernier calipers.
Non-Conformance Management: Make sure that faulty materials do not enter the manufacturing stream by identifying, labeling, and separating them (NCMR, or Non-Conformance Material Report).
Testing Procedures: Depending on the needs of the product, conduct both destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT), such as ultrasonic inspections, tensile strength tests, and hardness tests.
Documentation & Records: For each batch produced, keep thorough inspection logs, material test certificates (MTC), and quality reports.
Gauge Calibration: To preserve measurement traceability, make sure all measurement instruments on the shop floor are calibrated in accordance with the master schedule.
Focus Skills:
Blue Print Reading: Proficiency in deciphering GD&T symbols and 2D/3D engineering drawings.
The capacity to identify minute surface flaws or dimensions deviations that are not within tolerance.
Tool Proficiency: Practical knowledge of both digital and manual metrology tools.
Technical Writing: The capacity to write short, understandable summaries of inspections and defect reports.
