VMC Operator Engineering Component Manufacturing Job Description: Responsibilities: VMC Equipment Operation: Use cycle parameters and standard operating programming matrices (SOPs) to load, initialize, and run Vertical Machining Centers safely. Raw Material Loading & Fixturing: To prevent machining errors, secure raw blocks, plates, or castings into pneumatic vices, magnetic plates, or manual toggle fixtures on the VMC bed. Make sure the pieces sit flush. Blueprint & GD&T Reference: To identify crucial measurement zones, read and comprehend component engineering drawings and fundamental Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts. Precision Quality Inspection Audits: Use precision measuring instruments such as digital calipers, external micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, and thread plugs to conduct high-frequency dimensional audits on completed items. Tool Wear & Basic Offset Inputs: To correct tool drift and preserve tolerances, keep a close eye on the cutting operation (monitoring chip color, shape, and spindle sound) and enter small tool wear offsets under direction. Coolant & Chip Management: Clean chip conveyor meshes, remove heavy metal swarf or stringy chips from the enclosure, and monitor and modify cutting oil/water concentration ratios to maintain fluid levels.
