CNC Programmer High-Growth Engineering Company Job Description The main "Technical Manufacturing & Machining Strategy Anchor" for our engineering and shop floor operations is the CNC Programmer CAD/CAM Modelling, G-Code Generation, Machining Optimisation & Shop Floor Engineering. Your main tasks are to translate 2D/3D engineering models into effective, collision-free G-code/M-code programs, design unique fixture concepts, choose the best cutting tools, set machining parameters, and optimise tool paths for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machines, while CNC operators operate machines and setters demonstrate setups. As the "Guardian of Program Accuracy, Cycle Time Optimisation, Tool Path Efficiency, Material Yield, and Zero Machine Collisions," you assume direct responsibility for advancing process engineering from digital design to actual precision manufacturing.

Key Duties CAD/CAM Modelling & Multi-Axis Toolpath Generation: Use CAM software to create multi-axis CNC programs while interpreting 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models. Machining Strategy & Cutting Tool Selection: Choose high-performance carbide tooling, inserts, and holders for a variety of metals, as well as the best order of operations, cutting feeds and speeds, depth of cut, stepovers, and coolant strategies. CAMSimulation & CollisionVerification: Before shop floor execution, carry out comprehensive 3D CAM simulations and virtual machine verification to identify gouge, toolholder interference, fixture collisions, and rapid-move mistakes. G-Code/M-Code Customisation & Post-Processing: Create bespoke macro programs for parametric family parts and use post-processors designed for particular machine controllers to generate and adjust G-code/M-code output. ShopFloor Prove-Out & Process Optimisation: During first trial runs on the shop floor, collaborate with CNC Setters to solve tool path problems, improve cutting settings, get rid of chatter, and shorten component cycle times.
