VMC Programmer Drive Innovation in Precision Machining Job Description Duties: CAD/CAM 3D Modelling & Multi-Axis Toolpath Generation: Create multi-axis VMC milling programs using CAM software (Mastercam, Siemens NX, PowerMill, SolidCAM) and interpret 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models. Milling Strategy & Cutting Tool Selection: Choose high-performance carbide tooling, inserts, and holders for a variety of metals, as well as the best order of operations, cutting feeds and speeds, depth of cut, stepovers, and coolant strategies. CAM Simulation & Collision Verification: Before shop floor execution, carry out comprehensive 3D CAM simulations and virtual machine verification (Vericut) to identify toolholder interference, fixture collisions, rapid-move mistakes, and gouge. G-Code/M-Code Customisation & Post-Processing: Create and adjust G-code/M-code output using post-processors designed for certain VMC machine controllers (Fanuc, Siemens Sinumerik, Haas, Mitsubishi, Heidenhain); create unique macro programs ($B/C$ macros) for parametric family components.

Focus Skills: Advanced CAD/CAM applications Mastery: Expertise in 3D CAD modelling platforms (SolidWorks, Inventor, UG-NX) and CAM programming applications. Proficiency with 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis Vertical Machining Centers; proficiency with Fanuc, Siemens Sinumerik, Haas, Mitsubishi, and Heidenhain control systems and post-processors. Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) & Blueprint Reading: Expertise in deciphering intricate technical drawings, GD&T symbols, surface polish specifications, and strict tolerance standards. Comprehensive understanding of metal cutting dynamics, speed/feed formulas, chip load calculations, tool wear mechanisms, and milling techniques for titanium, nickel alloys, aluminium, stainless steel, and hardened die steels.
