Job Description
Duties:
Schedule and confirm patient appointments while making sure the provider's calendar is as efficient as possible and that medical urgency is given top priority.
Pre-Registration: Get in touch with patients prior to their appointment to obtain or confirm their demographic data, primary and secondary insurance information, and emergency contacts.
Reminder Calls: Make a lot of outgoing calls to patients to let them know that they have appointments coming up, that they must fast, or that they need to bring certain paperwork.
Post-Discharge Follow-up: To make sure the patient is recuperating as anticipated and comprehends their discharge instructions, conduct "Wellness Checks" or satisfaction surveys after a procedure.
Patient Collections: Encourage over-the-phone payments prior to the date of service and politely advise patients of any overdue balances or projected co-pays.
Coordination: Make sure the required authorizations are in place and help patients make appointments with specialists as instructed by their primary care physician.
Focus Skills:
The capacity to communicate calmly and coherently with patients who may be nervous, elderly, or in pain
Proficiency in phone "soft skills," such as active listening, patience, and a friendly tone.
Health literacy: fundamental knowledge of various healthcare providers and disciplines as well as medical terminology.
Software Proficiency: Knowledge of using EHR systems (such as Epic, NextGen, or Athena) or Practice Management Systems (PMS).
Bilingual Capability: Fluency in a second language that the local patient population frequently speaks (optional but preferable).
