Job Description
Duties:
Database design involves the creation and upkeep of logical and physical data models as well as the design of tables, views, and indexes that guarantee data integrity and peak performance.
Query Development: Create and refine intricate T-SQL, PL/SQL, or PostgreSQL queries to facilitate corporate reporting and application functionality.
Stored Procedures & Triggers: To automate business logic and preserve data integrity at the database level, create reliable stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
Performance tuning involves identifying bottlenecks, analyzing execution plans, and optimizing slow-running queries through appropriate indexing and query rewriting.
ETL Procedures: To transfer data across several systems, design and build Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines using programs like SSIS, Informatica, or Python.
Data Security: Put into practice and oversee database-level security measures, such as row-level security, data encryption, and user authorization.
Focus Skills:
SQL Mastery: At least one major RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) must be mastered.
Indexing & Optimization: A thorough grasp of how the storage engine obtains data and the differences between clustered and non-clustered indexes.
Normalization: A thorough understanding of database normalization (1NF, 2NF, and 3NF) and the appropriate times to strategically de-normalize for performance.
Analytical Thinking: Excellent capacity to work with and compile huge datasets in order to derive significant insights.
Version Control: The ability to use SVN or Git to manage database code.
