VMC Setter Implementing Precision Specifications
Job Description
A high-level technical expert, the VMC Setter is in charge of a Vertical Machining Center's whole transition from one production component to another. "Set-up Excellence" is your main goal, which includes setting up the machine, installing intricate fittings, loading NC programs, and carrying out the "First-Off" inspection to make sure the operator can rely on the process. You have the sophisticated abilities to set exact tool offsets, dial in work-holding devices, and make crucial program modifications, unlike a conventional operator. As the liaison between the operator and the programmer, you make sure the machine is set up to maximize accuracy and minimize cycle time.
Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Changeover: Using the "Setup Sheet" and "Operation Process Plan" as a guide, oversee the whole setup of 3-axis or 4-axis VMC machines.
Work-Holding Installation: Use dial indications to guarantee "Zero-Zero" alignment while mounting and aligning vices, sub-plates, or specialty hydraulic/pneumatic fixtures.
Tooling Configuration: Use pre-setters or "touch-off" techniques to set tool length and diameter offsets; choose the appropriate cutters, collets, and tool holders.
Program Loading & Optimization: Use DNC or USB to upload G-code/M-code programs; run a "Dry Run" or "Graphic Simulation" to look for any tool conflicts.
First-Off Part Validation: Before giving the first component to the operator, run it, use precision equipment to complete a comprehensive dimensional layout, and get clearance from the quality department.
Skills:
Advanced Metrology: Proficiency with all digital micrometers, air gauges, and bore gauges, among other precise measuring instruments.
Technical Drawing Mastery: GD&T symbols like True Position, Concentricity, and Run-out are understood at an expert level.
G-Code/M-Code Literacy: The capacity to manually read, decipher, and modify CNC programs at the machine controller (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens).
Problem Solving: The capacity to identify problems with surface finish or the reasons behind tool breakdown and apply quick technical fixes.
We invite you to apply and explore this exciting opportunity!
