Prospects for Career Advancement VMC Operator Job Description: Responsibilities: VMC machine setup and operation include loading raw materials, aligning intricate workholding fixtures and vises on the machine table, mounting cutting tools in holders, calling up CNC/VMC programs, dialling zero offsets, and securely and effectively operating 3/4/5-axis VMC machines. Dimensional Inspection & Quality Assurance: To guarantee compliance with drawing tolerances, conduct ongoing first-piece and run-time dimensional checks using precision measuring tools. Tooling & Offset Management: Use pre-setters or touch probes to assess tool length/diameter offsets, repair worn carbide inserts, end mills, drills, and taps, keep an eye on milling cutter wear, and modify controller wear offsets to preserve dimensional accuracy. Routine Maintenance & 5S Workplace Discipline: Enforce stringent 5S shop-floor housekeeping standards and carry out daily independent maintenance chores. Scrap Control & Process Troubleshooting: Reduce material scrap, find milling flaws, stop operations during serious faults, and work with shift supervisors to identify the underlying causes.
