QC Engineer Qc Improvement & Defect Detection Job Description Who you are: Compare engineering drawings and quality control plans with physical, dimensional, and visual inspections of raw materials, outsourced components, in-process machined parts, and final goods. To confirm crucial dimensions, use micrometres, height gauges, bore gauges, surface roughness testers, profile projectors, hardness testers, Vernier callipers, and CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machine). Before authorising mass production runs, physically clear the dimensions of the first "first-off" sample components following setup modifications on machining, fabrication, or assembly lines. To stop defects from escaping, identify, tag, and quarantine non-conforming materials; issue Non-Conformance Reports; separate scrap; and keep an eye on rework lines. Verify daily gauge zero-setting, follow the shop-floor gauge calibration tracking schedule, and perform routine Measurement System Analysis checks.
