A nasogastric tube (Ryles tube) is a smooth, fine, and flexible tube that is inserted through the nose, down the throat, and into the stomach. It's usually used for feeding, administration of medication, gastric decompression, and diagnosis. These tubes will be safe, comfortable, and efficient, and will bring minimal discomfort to the patients while maximising clinical performance. Nasogastric tubes are used to provide their patients with long-term and short-term care. The reason why they are necessary in the recovery and management of patients is the design that enables them to control the provision of nutrients and fluids hygienically.
