The third-largest telecom company in India, Vodafone Idea Ltd., just obtained a second lifeline from the government. The company is currently looking for a CEO because incumbent Akshaya Moondra’s term ends in August of this year.
According to a sector executive speaking on condition of anonymity, the telco may look at CXOs from industries like consumer and technology (sectors) who have a strong understanding of distribution as part of the ongoing hunt for a new CEO.
Indian cellular operators are beginning to go beyond 4G and 5G capabilities, which is why Vodafone Idea (Vi) is planning to appoint a new CEO. Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd recently inked a deal to offer Indian customers Starlink satellite internet services. When asked for clarification over its purported discussions with Starlink, Vi replied that the company is in “exploratory talks with various Satcom providers including Starlink.” Read more »
